thoughts from a wandering mind

Read me or don't, but here's where the wanderings get put on paper..eh, screen.

I’m back

Ever since we started our lunch club blog I’ve started to neglect my own. Although I do recommend you check it out at http://www.tumblr.com/tumblelog/lunchclub

Start with the last pages as you are more likely to find the recipes there….we’re still catching up to ourselves.

This past weekend was one worth writing about though, as I had a wonderful one. Friday night was a low-key dinner with Ry. Saturday morning I woke up to a rainy day, which was a bit disappointing because I had a lot to do and Ryan had the car. I braved the cold and rain and went grocery shopping nonetheless because I had company coming over that night! Backed by a soundtrack of Christmas music I unloaded all the groceries and started to make a ‘smoky marinara sauce’ which made the house smell almost edible. Wrapped a few presents and realized I needed tissue paper, so went back to the kitchen. As I started to put together the ingredients for a squash lasagna I realized I had forgotten an onion.

Back out to brave the rain. I headed to the farmers market where I was inspired to also make a salad for the evening. Picked up everything I had forgotten earlier, and started back home in the POURING rain. Arriving home wet and cold could’ve put a damper on the fun, but once lighting some candles, plugging the tree lights back in and hitting play on the Christmas music again, all was right in the world. I spent the rest of the day cooking and wrapping. I loved every minute.

Ryan, L&M all arrived at the same time and with wine flowing, a sit-down dinner (at a real table!!), a fire roaring in the fireplace, good conversation, rain at our window, and cupcakes with a cookie dough center (thanks M!!), the night captured a moment in time.

And M reminded me to blog!
